Soil washing into Bass Strait from Claytons Rivulet, near Ulverstone

Caption: Land use affects the rate of run-off and erosion and hence the amount of sediment, nutrients and agricultural chemicals reaching inland waters and estuaries. In these systems, sedimentation can reduce the diversity of aquatic life and the productivity of fisheries.
