Population change by urban centres and localities

Population change by urban centres and localities

Caption: The ABS classifies population centres as either 'urban centre 1' (20,000 or more people), 'urban centre 2' (1,000 to 19,999 people) or 'locality' (200 to 999 people). The graph shows:

  • a relatively stable population in localities of between 200 and 999 people

  • a stable population in urban centre one category of more than 20,000 people

  • growth in the urban centre two category of between 1,000 and 19,999 people

  • growth in the 'other' category outside of defined centres and localities.
