| Recommendation 27: Protecting species vulnerable to climate change | Index of 1997 recommendations |

To protect species which are vulnerable to climate change. It is recommended that the Department of Environment and Land Management makes available information derived from climate change/species modelling programmes, such as those developed under the auspices of the Australian and New Zealand Environment and Conservation Council, to be used in the preparation of species/habitat reservation and conservation management strategies. This information is available from Volume 2 of the last SoE Report (SDAC 1997), which can be downloaded. The final objective, final recommendation, and a summary of key management actions are detailed below. Currently, Tasmania does not have access to the detailed climate modelling similar to the studies that have been undertaken by the CSIRO for Victoria and New South Wales, to allow biodiversity impacts and management responses (such as reserve design) to be determined.
