Recommendation

It is recommended that the Department of Environment and Land Management prepares an industrial estate catalogue which identifies current and potential industrial areas in the State and describes their environmental constraints and capabilities for particular industry types.

Actions taken

An industrial estate catalogue was prepared through DPIWE. However, generic industrial estate catalogues may not have sufficient relevant information to meet the specific needs of particular industry sectors. Promoting industry growth in areas that are well-serviced by available infrastructure and maximise land capability is a key goal. However, this is being approached through industry-by-industry specific responses rather than generic industrial estate catalogues.
