To reduce the level of air pollution caused by emissions from motorised vehicles. It is recommended that the Department of Transport monitors global developments in non-polluting, energy efficient public and private transport and provides periodic information to the community and recommendations to the Government on practical measures that apply to Tasmania. This information is available from Volume 2 of the last SoE Report (SDAC 1997), which can be downloaded. The final objective, final recommendation, and a summary of key management actions are detailed below. There has been some progress made in addressing this recommendation on pollution from transport since the previous SoE Report (1997). This has been through the involvement of the Department of Infrastructure, Energy and Resources in monitoring and providing relevant information to this recommendation, including the following actions:
